Up and Down Temperatures

One thing about having the jet stream hanging out in your vicinity is that you tend to get more variable weather.  Short warm spells followed by a quick cool down, usually accompanied by some wind.  Our windy Wednesday will usher in some cooler weather for the next couple of days, but then things will warm right back up for the weekend.

Sunday or possibly Monday will be the peak of the next round of warm weather, followed by a brief cool-down on Tuesday, with more 90s after that.

No rain in sight with this pattern, except for a possible mountain shower near the BC or Montana border.

If you're looking to bale and need some dew, there should be some opportunities coming up, but also some nights/mornings to avoid.

Below is the wind forecast for the next 10 days.  Today's wind will calm down this evening, but probably not enough to allow dew to form on Thursday morning.

Friday morning looks much better for dew formation.  Deer Park should have a low in the mid 40s (won't that feel nice?).  Dew Points will also be in the 40s and winds will be light, which should provide several hours of high humidity overnight.

Saturday morning also looks promising.  The fly-in-the-ointment is that there could be some clouds moving by on Friday night, keeping our low temperatures in the lower 50s.  So less dew than Friday morning.

Sunday and Monday morning also look decent for dew or at least high humidity at night.  But temperatures will be warm so the window of high humidity will be short.

Our weak disturbance on Monday will keep winds higher overnight so Tuesday and Wednesday morning might not be the best mornings to bale.

The Climate Prediction Center expects more of the same beyond that.

The European models do indicate some lower pressure around 19 July.  It probably won't amount to anything, but we'll need to keep an eye on it.

NCEI has posted their numbers from June.  For our area, June 2025 was in the top 10% of warmest and the bottom 10% as far as precipitation.
