Rain Then Heat - Update
I wanted to provide a quick update to the upcoming forecast of rain followed by warmth.
First, the rain still appears to be on target as we have been expecting. The main change to the forecast has been to speed things up a bit. Rain will probably start in the early afternoon on Sunday but may even begin during the late morning hours.
The steady rain will probably end overnight Sunday night but there will be plenty of showers on Monday with breezy winds in the afternoon and possibly a thunderstorm.
The forecast rainfall amounts are still pretty much the same as before. Generally 0.75-1.00".
After a few showers on Tuesday, the weather will dry out and warm up starting Wednesday. We'll reach the around 80 by Thursday, mid-80s for Friday and Saturday. Lower 80s will continue next Sunday into the middle of the following week. However, by that point (i.e. after June 8th), we could start to see some afternoon/evening showers. This won't be due to any big storm. Just afternoon instability which is impossible to predict this far out.
I realize that this may not provide a long enough window to put up any first cutting. There won't be much wind with the warmer weather to help dry out hay. And the dew point will gradually climb into the lower 50s with all of the rain we're expecting to get, so the humidity won't be crunchy dry.
Here is the week 2 outlook from the Climate Prediction Center. They agree that while temperatures for June 8-14 will be warmer than normal, precipitation will still be near-normal.
